Bus Rules & Regulations
  1. The right of the students to ride a bus is based upon the continued observance of the rules and regulations. The conduct of the students must be such that the driver’s attention is not diverted from his/her primary duty of safely transporting the students.
  2. School buses are school property and while students are riding the bus they are considered to be under school jurisdiction. All rules and policies of the school will be administered accordingly.
  3. Students must ride the bus assigned unless written authorization is give by the principal.
  4. Students are to be on time. The bus must maintain its schedule.
  5. Students are not to stand in the roadway while waiting for the bus.
  6. Students are to take their seats as soon as they get on the bus. Students are not to move or change seats unless instructed by the driver.
  7. The bus driver is in full charge while transporting the students.
  8. The bus driver will assign seats on the bus. Students will take the seats assigned to them.
  9. Students are not to extend hands, arms or head out of the window.
  10. Students are to refrain from unnecessary conversation with the bus driver. Students are not to partake in any obscene language.
  11. Damage done to the seats or other equipment will be paid for by the offender and/or parents.
  12. Buses are to be kept clean. There is to be no throwing or shooting of any article at any time. Food and drink carried on the bus will remain in the proper container.
  13. The driver is not to load or unload students at stops other than their assigned stop.
  14. Students are not to leave the bus without the driver’s consent. The emergency exit will not be used unless the driver gives instructions to do so.
  15. When it is necessary to cross the road after leaving the bus, students must wait for the driver’s instructions to cross the road in front of the bus.
  16. Please extend the proper courtesy to your drivers, for they have a big job to do.
  17. A student who is temporarily suspended from riding privileges and subsequently found riding any bus will be permanently suspended from bus privileges.
  18. Students will give their correct names and addresses when requested to do so.
  19. Large and potentially dangerous objects are not to be brought on the bus.
  20. Animals of any type are not to be brought on the bus unless approved in advance with the driver and a district administrator.
  21. Students will be transported to their bus stop only. Transportation of a student to the parent’s place of employment is prohibited.
  22. Video cameras will be used on buses when student behavior becomes a problem.

Bus Disciipline Policy
Proper pupil control on busses is essential to the safety and well-being of all bus riders. Unruly riders cannot be tolerated and will be dealt with in a manner that places some responsibility on the student and parents, as well as the school. The following procedure will be adhered to in regard to student misconduct on the bus.GENERAL INSTRUCTION

Students will be given written copy of the rules and regulations regarding their conduct on the bus.
These rules will be discussed by parents and students. Both will sign and return to the school a form indication their intent to follow said rules.
Drivers will be in complete control of the bus at all times and will issue misconduct reports to students who misbehave.
The school principal will be responsible for disciplinary action when students receive misconduct reports from the bus drivers.
THE FOLLOWING DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS WILL BE TAKEN IN SITUATIONS OF MISCONDUCT.

In a situation of misconduct on a bus or at a bus stop the driver will complete a conduct report and submit it to the building principal. In an incident where there is immediate danger the driver may pull the bus over and call the law enforcement.

The building principal will interview the accused student(s), as well as other witnesses.

The principal will then administer one or more consequences from the following list: (Continuous offenses will result in progressive punishment.)

Warning submitted to the student and parent by the principal.
Meeting with the student and parent.
Suspension from riding buses for a period of time determined by the principal.
Suspension from school for a period of time determined by the principal.
